The Grind

Little update about the last two months here. I joined Cardrunners somewhere in November to work on my game since I definitely had some huge tilt issues and leaks in my game. Beating the fish has become easier, but now dealing with the regulars has become much easier as well.

One thing I changed is the duration of my sessions, which are now 1.5/2 hours maximum even on days when I am free, followed by a pokertracker review after every session. So a bit in line with the videos on cardrunners.

I've put in less than 60k hands in the last 2 months and started back at NL25 to work on the basics of my game. This is the graph from November and December, most hands at NL25 and NL50, about 13k hands at NL100:

One thing I changed in my game is bluffing much less vs villains who refuse to play their hands face up, but pound on those who do:

Both hands don't really need much commenting, villain in hand one held an overpair pretty much 95% of the time, and villain in hand two a middle pair strength type of hand or draw here. The second ace lowers the chance he was after a nut flush draw, and would have expected a raise somewhere along the hand, so I assumed a one-pair hand seemed most likely for this villain.

Sick Hand vs 4th Level Thinker

Villain is a solid opponent, generally TAG. His hand range is about the same as that of many 2+2 and CR members, meaning he'll raise limpers a lot and has a wide range from the button, even while his overall stats are tight.

I was sitting with villain on two tables and have been 3-betting him quite often, and 3-betting his isolation raises.

His attempt to steal was around 37/38% at this table and that I played back at him didn't seem to slow him down much.

Anyways, when I got 4-bet here I wanted to muck but had to think about something from one of Cardrunners videos. If you 3bet a solid player often enough, he'll generally start 4-betting very light but the first one is generally a bluff since he'll expect you to fold, since your own range is wide already.

So I figured his range here would include quite some hands I was favorite over, like JQo/s, TJ, and low pairs for flips and perhaps some worse aces even. Thinking of that, I got this 19/14/2 player to call my shove with 85s (good call on his side since his pot odds were quite good, and he correctly estimated my shoving range would not only include overpairs).

Results were less nice off course, but I got a full stack in as a good favorite.
